The challenges begin!

The interns have gone from the challenge of the GREAT RACE, which included some fun activities like river racing (see pictures in the gallery), to the challenge of helping train national teams to be ready for camp and the challenge of going into new places and meeting new people in order to promote camp. Last week, we were in the city of Lučenec, and this week, it’s Bratislava.
Things have been going great, but the team is getting tired. Also, there is the challenge of constantly being together (8 or 9 people), every day, every meal, traveling from place to place in a big blue van…talking in classes every morning and meeting with students every evening…dealing with the 90-some degree weather and NO AIR CONDITIONING…far away from home…
Please pray for the interns to be able to continue going at this breakneck pace and that they will be ever aware that they are working for eternal rewards right now that make all the discomfort and difficulty worth all the effort.
You can keep up with our basic schedule by looking at my calendar, but I’ll give you a quick preview. This week is time in the city of Bratislava, and then this weekend, there will be a little time to recover before things really kick in gear. The interns will have a couple of days of rest on Saturday and Sunday. Kenric and I will be traveling on Saturday to another city (Presov) to meet with their leadership team and train them on how to do the initiatives at camp (initiatives are activities that teams do together that help teach concepts - they are the kind of things that are commonly found on a low ropes course). Monday, we are all going to Auscwitz, a Nazi concentration camp in Poland. And on Tuesday, we will spend the whole day preparing for the American teams to arrive the next day. We will be training all the American teams on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday before we all head to the different campsites Friday afternoon. Three different camps all start on July 1st and run until the 7th. Amy and I will be traveling between the three camps, making sure all is going well.
Think of us while you’re enjoying that air-conditioning! For those of you that know me well, you know that being hot and sweaty isn’t one of MY favorite things! :-) And thanks for praying for us! It will be hard to keep this updated for the next month, but I will REALLY try to keep you posted in a timely manner!
